  • Sports at VDC

    Athletics is an exclusive collection of sporting events that involve competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and race walking.VDC has a very efficient team of atheletes. Team not only takes part in the sporting events held at VDC,but also participates in the competitions held in other Institutes across the country.

    This racquet sport is one of the major game which is played by almost the whole community,both the students and the residents.This game is so popular that VDC has 5 courts (3 in new student activity centre and 2 in old student activity centre). Besides these indoor courts almost all the halls of residences have a court in their premises.

  • Bathukamma Celebrations

    Bathukamma is floral festival celebrated predominantly by the Telangana and some parts of Andhra Pradesh. Every year this festival is celebrated as per Shathavahana calendar for nine days starting Bhadrapada Pournami (also known as Mahalaya Amavasya or Pitru Amavasya) till Durgashtami, usually in September–October of Gregorian calendar. Bathukamma is celebrated for nine days during Durga Navratri. It starts on the day of Mahalaya Amavasya and the 9-day festivities will culminate on "Saddula Bathukamma" or "Pedda Bathukamma" festival on Ashwayuja Navami, popularly known as Durgashtami which is two days before Dussehra. Bathukamma is followed by Boddemma, which is a 7-day festival. Boddemma festival that marks the ending of Varsha Ruthu whereas Bathukamma festival indicates the beginning of Sarad or Sharath Ruthu.

Placements At VDC

    As per media reports, VDC witnessed the highest number of placements across all in phase-I placements, December 2019. A total of 1,045 students had participated in the placement drive, out of which over 85% of students were successfully placed. As per the chairman of placement office at VDC, Syam Nair, as many as 900 job offers were extended to students in phase-I by about 238 companies.
